Vernon B. Arnold, 70, Lima and Wapakoneta insurance agent, died suddenly early Friday morning in his home at Wapakoneta following a heart attack.
He had been ill recently with laryngitis but had recovered sufficiently to attend to business Thursday at his Lima office in the Dominion-bldg.
Born Feb. 16, 1869 in Champaign-co, Arnold was educated in the Champaign-co schools and in normal school at Mechanicsburg. He taught school in Auglaize-co for eight years before entering the insurance business, in which he had been engaged here for the past 45 years. He had operated the Lima agency, in partnership with his son, Walter, for about 25 years.
He was married on Christmas Day in 1892 to Nora Hassenier, who survives, along with the son and one daughter, Vivian, both residents of Wapakoneta. Other survivors include three half-brothers, John Breedlove of Alger, James Breedlove of Sacramento, Calif., and Oscar Breedlove of Lima, and two half-sisters, Mrs. John Faulkner of Sacramento and Mrs. Virgil Shaver of West Mansfield, O.
Arnold was a member of the First English Lutheran church at Wapakoneta, the Moose lodge at Lima, and the Elks lodge at Wapakoneta.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Heinl and Swonguer funeral home at Wapakoneta, with Rev. George W. Weissling, pastor of the First English Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in the mausoleum at Greenlawn cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the services.
