Son of the Dutch gymnast Estella "Stella" Agsteribbe, who won the gold medal as member of the Dutch gymnastics team at the 1928 Summer Olympics in her native Amsterdam.

During World War II he was deported and murdered together with his father, mother, and his six-year-old sister Nanny in the Auschwitz concentration camp.During the war he was in The Netherlands.
