Canton - Edgar William Clark, 88, died on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Canton Christian Convalescent Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Daris and
Vicie Worley Clark. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife,
Geneva Smith Clark who died in 2005; a granddaughter, Kathy Clark Wourms, a brother, James F. Clark and a sister, Irene Willis. Edgar retired from Champion International in transportation with 32 years service. He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in WW II and the Korean War. Edgar was a member of the VFW and participated in the Haywood County Senior games.
He is survived by two sons, Reverend Keith Clark and his wife, Linda, Terry Clark and his wife, Paula; a daughter, Eleen Mitchell and her husband, Roger; two sisters, Evelyne Parker and her husband, John, and Maxine Scott and her husband, Carroll, and a sister-in-law, Frances Clark, all of Canton; six grandchildren, Jenny Williams, Susan Davis, Kevin Mitchell, Joshe and Jason Clark and Robin Snyder; and seven greatgrandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with the Revs. Donnie Henson and Keith Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshe, Jason and Ronnie Clark, Kevin Mitchell, Jim Davis and Clark Williams.
