Ava's Life:
Ava was the long awaited daughter of Crayton and Sheye Rosemeyer. Ava loved pink, all things sparkly, lipgloss and nail polish. She loved being in her Angel wings and had a yearning to fly. Ava was never one to do anything by halves. She was not just a dancer. She proclaimed herself to be a "dance teacher."

She was a beautiful soul who totally enchanted those who met her. She was confident but not precocious. She was the happiest child who knew she was so loved. She never had an unhappy day or experienced anything other than security, tenderness and affection.

Ava's Accident:
On February 3rd, 2007 Ava spent the morning with her mummy in her Grandad's study who lives next door, but when it was time to go home, she wanted to go back for something. Her mummy didn't want to go back and when they returned to the house, Ava still wanted to go back for something so her daddy said she could go get it. There was only wall around both properties and Ava and her siblings were allowed to come and go as they wished. Coming from her Grandad's Ava was suppose to go home but instead she went into the family's car which was unusually parked in the driveway. The car is always locked, it just wasn't that day. Once she got in, she shut the door. It was summer in Australia, and the heat from the car caused her to pass out before she had time to get out of the car. Her mother thought she was with her Grandad while he thought she was back with her mother. When she was found 30 minutes later, it was already too late. Ava fought for two days in ICU, but on February 5th, 2007 she slipped away.

Facts:
The temperature inside a parked car can be as much as 40C/104F hotter than outside ie. 36°C / 97°F day, 76°C/201°F inside the car.
75% of this rise occurs within five minutes of closing the car.
90% of the temperature rise occurs within fifteen minutes.
Open windows do not significantly decrease the car's temperature.
Young children are three to five times more sensitive to heat.
The younger the child, the faster heatstroke and dehydration occur.
Hypothermia, dehydration & asphyxia can all lead to death.

Teach your children to NEVER enter a parked car without an adult, and show then how to blow the car's horn (if operational when stationary) if they ever become trapped for any reason. Within 5 minutes, the heat inside a car can make young child too lethargic to act.

Please Remember AVA's Rule to help keep young ones safe:
Always lock your car and store your keys out of kids reach
Verify your children know to NEVER go to the car unsupervised
Actively seek out sheltered locations to park your car

"Ava With Wings" was chosen for Ava's headstone, along with some adapted words from The Backyardigans song, Rockabilly Lullaby

Rest my little darling. You've had a busy day.
The sun has fallen and it's time for us to say
Hush! Hush!
Hush little princess, goodnight.

Close your eyes, close your eyes
and lay down your head in your soft pink bed.
Have a rest, just as we said.
Hush! Hush!
Hush little princess, goodnight.

May your dreams be sweet as you fall into a sleep.
One day again we'll meet.
Hush! Hush!
Hush little princess, sleep tight.
