Octavia was born in Birch Run, Saginaw County , Michigan .
She married Frederick Hamilton LaBarre, August 25, 1891 in Ithaca, Gratiot Co., Michigan.

The daughter of Daniel N. Hammond from ,Cicero, Onondaga County, New York (Dec 12, 1831-Oct 16, 1895 ) and Minerva Beers ( 1841-1916).
Her paternal grandparents,Erastus and Mary "Howser" Hammond were also born in New York, as was her maternal grandfather Nathan Beers.

Her father Daniel removed from New York to Birch Run, Saginaw County , Michigan where he met and married Minerva Beers, April 10, 1857 .

Octavia had six known brothers and one sister, some died young.

Octavia's father Daniel died in Seville, Gratiot County, Michigan, October 16, 1895, age 64 years 10 months 4 days.

Her mother Minerva Beers Hammond died in Emerson, Gratiot, Michigan February 8, 1916.

Octavia and Fred were the parents of eight children.

This information was passed on to me by Marilynn as told to her by Leroy Hammond, son of Fred Hammond.
Octavia's son Daniel died during the Camp Custer Michigan Flu epidemic. Daniel's body was sealed in a casket and delivered home by two military guards. Octavia had Fred Hammond got the guards drunk so the casket could be opened - Octa and Daniel’s sister Eva with child, kissed the corpse and all died within three weeks - Eva was buried with her new baby.
