Roy owned the Manhattan Cigar Store on West High Street in Lima, Ohio. It was a pool hall, complete with gambling. It was strictly "men only". He also was part owner of the Lima Panda Baseball club. He was a member of the Lima Lodge of Elks and served in the military as a Private in Company K of 2nd Regiment of Infantry.
