Minnie Christine Kohn, daughter of Henry Blume and Augusta Kuhne was born June 30, 1878 in Trovinz, Hanover, Germany. She was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Ll. Fluthe, Hanover, Germany by Pastor Ritterbusch. At the age of six she came from Germany with her parents who resided on a farm south of Westmoreland where she grew to womanhood.
On May 10. 1897 she was united in wedlock with Charles F. Kohn. They resided on a farm south of Wheaton. To this union was born three sons and one daughter. Two sons died in infancy, her husband Charles, died August 9, 1934 and one son, Henry, January 28, 1960. Since the death of her husband, she resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfonso F. Kufahl.
On November 1, 1942, she was confirmed by Pastor Hilderbrandt of Duluth. Later her membership was transferred t St. Luke's Lutheran church Wheaton.
After a lingering illness she fell asleep in Jesus October 19, 1961 at Dechairo Hospital at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 20 days.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Alfonso F. Kufahl; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nina Kohn of Maple Hill; one son-in-law, Alfonso F. Kufahl; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Goehring and Mrs. Henry Lelievre, Westmoreland; one brother, Henry Blume, Wamego; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herman Blume, Arlington; one brother-in-law, Henry Lelievre, Westmoreland; five children, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, at 2:00 in the afternoon at St. Luke's Lutheran church, Wheaton, and interment was made in the Fox cemetery south of Wheaton.
Pall bearers were: Bill Blume, Gilbert Goehring, Lester Goehring, Guy Blume, Argyle Blume and Geo. Mayer, Jr.
