Mrs. L.A. Rogerson of Andrews Dies

ANDREWS, Aug. 27 - Mrs. Isabel Clemons Rogerson, widow of L.A. Rogerson of Andrews, died at 2:40 p.m. today at Kelley Memorial Hospital in Kingstree. She had been ill for over three months.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. Woodrow Ward, assisted by the Rev. John Flanigan, rector of St. Albans' Protestant Episcopal Church of Kingstree.

Burial will be in Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by Mayer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rogerson, the former Miss Mary Isabel Clemons, was born July 16, 1882 in Williamsburg County, near Greeleyville, a daughter of the late Samuel Patrick
Clemons and the late Mrs. Julia Eloise Brasington Clemons.

She attended schools in Clarendon and Williamsburg Counties and a number of summer sessions of various colleges. Mrs. Rogerson taught school in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties for a number of years and was the first school teacher in the Andrews public school.
She retired two years ago while a primary teacher in Williamsburg School.

Mrs. Rogerson was an active member of Trinity Methodist Church and had served as a member of official board of the church. She also was a teacher in the Ladies' Bible Class and had been chairman of the spiritual life movement of
the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was one of the first presidents of the Women's Temperance Union of Andrews and a member of the Rosemary Garden Club.

Her husband died in 1931.

Surviving are five sons, Marvin C. Rogerson of Florence, Laurie S. Rogerson of Andrews, L.A. Rogerson of Columbia, R.C. Rogerson of Kingstree and William W. Rogerson of Georgetown; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Barrineau of Andrews and Mrs. A. W. Wilson of Louisburg, NC; 20 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and a brother, R. B. Clemons of Andrews.
