Edna Jean Hicks, age 74, of Elk Park, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.


A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dan Maynard and Linda Julian Potter. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Elk Park, NC. Mrs. Hicks had worked for the Holiday Inn in Banner Elk, NC until her retirement due to disability. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thurman Hicks, one son, Jerry Danny Hicks, two grandchildren, Jessica Hicks and Dakota Hicks, and one great grandson, Bradley Hicks.


Survivors include a son, a daughter, five great grandchildren, one brother, one sister, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Also surviving are special friends Tina and Doug Blevins, Buddy and Judy Davis.


The funeral service for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Rhododendron Chapel ~ Tetrick Funeral Home ~ Roan Mountain. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Hicks Cemetery, Elk Park, NC.
