She was born March 15, 1921, in Peru, Ind., to Gale and Mary Pahl Dawson, who preceded her in death. Her husband of more than 72 years, William C. Orpurt Jr., died Dec. 1, 2010.
Mrs. Orpurt was a homemaker. She and her husband had been houseparents for more than 18 years for ARC of Allen County. In the 1950s, they also were instrumental in founding the Cerebral Palsy Clinic in Lima.
Survivors include five children, Mary (Richard) Painter, Lenny Orpurt, Robert (Bev) Orpurt and Phil (Doris) Orpurt, all of Lima, and Elizabeth (Ross) Hunt, of Wapakoneta; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Orpurt, of Southington; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Leis, of Peru, Ind.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Orpurt; and two daughters, Rebecca Belle and Frances Kaye.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Pastor Terry Anderson will officiate
