Roland A. Nivison, 47, of 38 Crest Drive, husband of Elizabeth Ann Hall Nivison, died Sunday at Monmouth Memorial Hospital after a month's illness.
Mr. Nivison was born at Bayonne, son of Mrs. W.F. Nivison, who now lives here, and the late Walter F. Nivison. He was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and Dartmouth College, class of 1929. Mr. Nivison was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
He served in the Pacific during World War II as an infantry captain. A member of Red Bank Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Mr. Nivison formerly was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., and was associated with the Redden agency, Red Bank, at his death. He was an agent of National Life of Vermont and was a trustee of the Monmouth Life Underwriters. Mr. Nivison also was a graduate of the American College of Life Underwriters. He was active in Cub Scouts, Civil Defense and the Little Silver Community Club.
Surviving, besides his wife and mother, are two sons, Robert and William Nivison; a brother, Harry Nivison of Charleston, W. Va., and three sisters, Mrs. W.B. Joachim of Drexel Hill, Pa., Mrs. G.W. Solomon of Neptune City and Mrs. W.L. Clarkson of Westfield.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at Adams Memorial Home, with Rev. Charles H. Best, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank, officiating. Burial was in Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus.
Masonic services were held Tuesday night at the funeral home.
