Carl Ellis, 54, Dies Unexpectedly

Carl Ellis, 54-year-old Paragon farmer, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home just before noon Tuesday.

Mr. Ellis, who had been in failing health for the last two years, had lived in the Paragon community for 50 years. He belonged to the Baptist Church there and the I.O.O.F. Lodge.

He was one of the eight children of Marion F. and Eliza Stierwalt Ellis and was born Apr. 29, 1903, in Brown County. On Jan. 25, 1931 he was married to Minnie Houston who survives him.

Also surviving are their three children, Marion F. Ellis of Indianapolis, Mrs. Robert F. Crone of Greenwood, and Leon Ellis, at home, and five step-sons. They are John William Ratliff, Indianapolis; Basil Houston, of Paragon, David of Detroit, Fred of Minneapolis, and Jack of Paterson, N. J.

In addition, he leaves 11 grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. William Riley of Homestead, Fla.; Mrs. Crawford Lingle, Bloomington; Joe Ellis, Martinsville; Chester and John Ellis, Cleveland. A brother and sister died earlier.

The Rev. William Schuermann will conduct his funeral rites in the Paragon Christian Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with interment in Friendship Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cure and Hensley Funeral Home after 7 o'clock this evening.

The body will be taken to the church at Paragon an hour before the service.
