Suddenly on Wed, July 19,1972, at the Winnipeg General Hospital, Thomas Jones Porteous, aged 81 years of Ashern, Manitoba. Mr. Porteous was born in Winnipeg on March 30, 1891. In 1915 he and his wife moved to the Ashern district, where he farmed until retiring. Prayers will be said on Sunday evening, July 23, at 8 pm from the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ashern. Requiem Mass will be sung on Mon, July 24, at 10 am with Father Dion officiating. Interment in the churchyard cemetery. Mr.Porteous is survived by 2 sons; Clifford & John, both of Winnipeg; 3 daughters; Mrs.J.Bedford (Myrtle) of Portage la Prairie, Mrs.William Barnes (Ve) of B.C., Mrs.Ernie Cusitar (Agnes) of Russell; 1 sister, Miss Olive Porteous of Ashern, and 1 brother, James of Winnipeg; 18 grandchildren & 15 greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine in 1968 and a son, William in 1942 in Italy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church Building Fund.
