Delores E. Skaar, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011.

Delores was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Idaho Falls to A.W. and Ruth Sundquist Johnson. She spent her earlier life and attended schools in Idaho Falls.

Delores was an active member and supporter of agricultural societies, such as Cowbells, 4-H and the Idaho Cattlewomen's Association, where she served as president. Delores was the first recipient of the Bette Jo Brent Award. She was the secretary of Louis Skaar and Sons Inc. for many years. Delores stayed very active and interested in all agricultural functions and the people involved.

She was a longtime member of the Roberts Community Church, were she served as a Sunday school teacher and dynamic member of the Women's Missionary Society. She and Louis took many of their grandchildren to this church to learn "What a friend we have in Jesus," who was the center of their life.

Delores was a happy partner to Louis Skaar, whom she married in 1943. Together they created an amazing family, home and agricultural empire that succeeds and supports many other families today in Lewisville. She was very proud of her role in the family business. Some of her many interests included gardening, canning, baking, sewing and playing cards. She was an enthusiastic hostess and participant in several bridge and pinochle clubs. You could always rely on Delores for a sharp and intelligent game of cards.

Delores is survived by her four children and their spouses, Kent and Sarah Skaar, Duwayne and Colleen Skaar, Justin and Linda Skaar and Penny and Danny Zundel; her sister, Lorraine (Ken) Wood; her sisters-in-law, Helen Myher and Florence Williamson; and a dear cousin, Bernice Sargis. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Roberts Community Church, 637 N. 2872 East in Roberts, with Pastor Steve Molsee officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery.
