He was a son to Albert Theodore and Hazel Chesta (Gross) Haller. On Jun 1, 1946, he married Grace Irene Boyer, who survives.
He was a 1943 graduate of Spencerville High School. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Asiatic, European and South Pacific theatres aboard the USS Chiwawa. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys. He later worked at Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, retiring in 1980 as general foreman after 24 1/2 years of service. He later worked for seven and a half years as a boiler operator at Bath schools. He was a member of Westside United Methodist Church, Lima. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, first at Lodge 121, St. Marys, and then Lodge 513 in Lafayette, where he was a past master. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville. He was a member of American Legion Post 191, Spencerville. He was a member and past president of the Allen County Retarded Citizens board and the AARP. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Services are at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, with the Rev. William Cronk officiating and burial military rites by Spencerville Veterans.
