Mae was described to me by a cousin who knew her as an upbeat lady who enjoyed being around children. I marvel at her ability to be upbeat as she had what I perceive as disheartening events in her life, that were well beyond her control. Shortly after her birth her father died and when she was about 10 her mother remarried. Shortly after that her step-father died. When she was 25 she married Robert Black. I know of no children born to them, but when Mae was 38 Robert died in a tragic accident in the oil fields where he worked.
Mae had worked as a beautician before they married and when Robert died she converted a garage to establish her own beauty shop that she called Farron Beauty Salon. Mae was good-natured and a hard-working lady. At one time Mae's mother and her aunt Mayce lived with her and Mae took care of her mother Jessie Berry. Physically she was a small-framed lady, thin built with ash-blonde hair with a reddish tinge. She had toy Chihuahuas, and one of them she called Sadie. This is a lady I wish I had had the pleasure of knowing personally.
