Caroline E. Batz, age 77, of Waunakee, died on Monday, December 3, after an extended illness. She was born on June 18, 1924 in Plain, WI, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Frank) Martin. She was united in marriage on April 30, 1949 to Gerard R. Batz in Baraboo. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1991. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake, Westport, and enjoyed baking Country Fare Fruit Cakes. She also enjoyed reading and loved her dogs. She is survived by her two sons, Tom Batz and Martin (Sue) Batz, both of Waunakee; 5 grandchildren: Dan, Tricia, Kenny, Greg and Randy; 1 great-grandchild, Taylor; and many cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4360 Mary Lake Rd., Westport, with Fr. Dan Finnane officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Baraboo. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., where a Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 PM.
