Mrs. Emmett was born on June 3, 1928 at Brighton, CO. She was the daughter of Robert J Shaw and Nellie A Eggleston Shaw. The family moved to Boulder, Colorado when she was three. She graduated from Boulder High School in 1945. She attended the University of Colorado until her marriage Charles Sandall in 1947. They had one daughter, Linda Kathleen. Mr. Sandall died of Polio in 1949. She worked for the Bell Telephone company during her senior year in high school and continued until her marriage to Mr. Sandall. During his illness, she worked at Colorado General Hospital. In 1950, she and her daughter moved to California where she met and married Navy Corpsman James Killingsworth in 1951. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1952. She and her daughter returned to Colorado. In 1953, she married John W Emmett. They had one son, John W Emmett, Jr. The Emmett family moved to Wyoming, settling in Laramie in 1955. Mrs. Emmett worked as a bookkeeper for Emmett and Hoke Trucking, Wytox, and the City of Laramie. In 1973, the Emmetts relocated to Fort Collins, CO, and then to Denver. She continued her career as a bookkeeper, first for the City of Northglenn and later for the City of Broomfield. She retired in 1989 a financial officer for the city. Upon retirement, the Emmetts moved to Chadron, NE to be nearer to family. Mr. Emmett was killed in an accident in Wyoming in 2001. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crafting, and especially her grand and great-grand children. She was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, RSVP,and the Chadron Garden Club. Mrs. Emmett is survived by son, John (Cathy) Emmett of Aberdeen, SD, son-in-law Gil Nitsch of Chadron, NE, sisters, Connie Bonnell and Kathy (Ralph) Watts of Commerce City, CO, seven grand daughters, Stacy (Dan) Beebe of Elburn, IL, Cody Spinaci of Denver, Debra Floyd (Tyson) of Torrington, WY, Kristin Yuetter of Omaha, NE, Abigail Emmett of North Hollywood, CA, Angie (Gary) Krall of Wamsutter, WY, and Alyssa Emmett of Lexington, KY. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
