EMMA MIELKE

Emma Mathilda Sophie Mielke, only daughter of Mr and Mrs. Henry Mielke, was born December 25, 1904, in Osceola county, Iowa. All her earthly life was spent in this county. She was baptized Into the Christian faith on the 15th of January, 1905, by the Rev. C. E. Miller and was ever since a sincere Christian. On March 24, 1918, she, together with two other young Christians, renewed the covenant that she in baptism had made with her God and was received Into communicant membership with the Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation.

Though short, her life was full of those trials through which we Christians must enter Into the kingdom of God. In October, 1923, the lower part of her body became paralyzed and she was not able to use it afterwards. She was, however, a patient sufferer, having learned patience from Him who suffered for us.

November 15, 1926, her father preceded her in death.

On Friday, April 27, she took ill to her bed A complication of diseases baffled the skill of the doctors and on Thursday evening. May 3, about half past 9 the Lord sent down his angel to carry her home. She had reached the age of 23 years, 4 months and 8 days.

Those who mourn her early departure are her widowed mother, four brothers. Adolph, Edward, George and Elmer, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mielke of Hartley, besides a number of other relatives. We sorrow, but we do not bewail, we are sad, but we do not despair.
