The Church of the Epiphany was founded as an Episcopal church in 1834, with the church building erected in the same year. It was designed by architect Thomas Ustick Walter. In 1898 the congregation was merged with St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The church building was demolished in 1902 and the remains buried in the churchyard were removed to Woodlands Cemetery in western Philadelphia.




Today the site of the church and churchyard is occupied by the Penn Building, which was erected in 1924, and presently has a branch of Wells Fargo bank as its street level tenant.
