Alois Mayer, 72, formerly of 321 E. Main St.. Chilton, died at Calumet Memorial Hospital at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after a lingering illness. He resided at the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, since December 29.

He was born in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc Co on July 18, 1892, a son of August and Mary Peters Mayer. He attended public and parochial schools in the Town of Eaton and was a veteran of World War I.

Mr. Mayer was a member of. St. Mary's Catholic Church,, Chilton, and the Holy Name Society of the parish.
He married Margaret Hahn at St. Mary's on Oct. 17, 1922.
After their marriage, the couple operated the Hahn homestead farm in the Town of Chilton.
Several years after his wife's death May 7, 1944, he moved to Chilton.

Surviving are three brothers, Godfred of R. 1, Valders, and John and Anton, both of Sheboygan:
and two sisters, Mrs. John Buhl. Chilton, and Mrs. Henry Baer, R. 1, Valders.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home. Chilton.
and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic C h u r c h . The Rev. Henry J. Schmitt, pastor, will
officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. The Rosary will be recited Fridav at 8 p.m.
