Hilbert – Peter M. Schmitz, 75, died Thursday June 4, at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, Appleton. He had been confined at the hospital for a month, following a fall in which he suffered a broken hip.

He was born July 30, 1877 at St. Anna, Wis., and was married to Miss Elizabeth Rach Nov. 28, 1905 at St. Anna Catholic Church. The couple settled near Hilbert and came to live in the village of Hilbert about seven years ago.

Survivors beside the widow are three sons, Raymond, Elmer, and Allen, all living near Hilbert; two daughters, Mrs. Anita Breit of Kaukauna and Mrs. Leroy Kleist of Potter; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Four brothers, John of Chilton, Arthur of Jericho, George of New Holstein, Henry of St. Anna, and five sisters, Mrs. Rudolph Freund of Oshkosh, Mrs. Tony Schiller of Marytown, Mrs. Julius Heus of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Simon Hoerl and Mrs. George Wick of Sheboygan, also survive. A daughter, Sedona, died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Rev. Martin Jaeckels was in charge of the services.
