Private John Connors
No. 3 Company 3rd. Foot
who died 29th. January 1857
from the effect of a fall from the
battlements at Port Neuf.
He had been awarded the Victoria Cross
for conspicuous gallantry at the
attack on the Redan.
This stone is erected by the officers
of his company and his comrades
as a token of their esteem and
regret at his untimely end.
