Swift. In this city, yesterday morning, James Foster Swift, U.S. Civil Engineer, aged 24 years. Son of General Joseph G. Swift. The friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral from the house of Mrs. Freeman, Seven Buildings, tomorrow (Saturday) at 4 o'clock.

According to his father's will, his widow's name was Maria Farquhar Jephson Swift. They were married January 2, 1830 in New York City by the Reverend George Upfold.

Educated, in part, at West Point. His father's memoirs (The memoirs of Gen. Joseph Gardner Swift) contain further information.
