Maria Klippenstein, 97 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska formerly of Friend, Nebraska died at the Beatrice
Community Hospital on Thursday morning, January 5, 2006. She was born on November 4, 1908 at Jansen,
Nebraska and lived as a young girl with her family in Jansen, Litchfield, Paxton and Henderson, Nebraska. She
married John R. Klippenstein on June 24, 1928 at Henderson and they lived in Henderson, Nebraska until moving to
Friend in 1930. They owned and operated the John Deere Implement business in Friend. She was an active member
of the First Congregational Church of Friend, Nebraska. She was a member of the Laff-A-Lot Club of Friend. She
moved to Beatrice in 1996 to be near her family and was a member of Christ Community Church in Beatrice,
Nebraska. She was a self-taught organist and enjoyed music. She also enjoyed traveling, needlework, knitting,
crocheting and making doll clothes.

Survivors include one son, John L. “Jack” Klippenstein and his wife, Gretchen of Beatrice, Nebraska. One daughter,
JoAnn Roll and her husband, Norman, of Mesa, Arizona. One daughter-in-law, Linda Klippenstein of Durham,
New Hampshire. Eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One sister, Ann Reimer of Dallas, Oregon.
Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter J. and Helena Kroeker Fast, her
husband, John R. Klippenstein, who died on January 15, 1995, one son, Gerald, an infant son, six brothers and four
sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Christ Community Church of
Beatrice, Nebraska with Pastor Jack Magness officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. in the Andrews Cemetery of
Friend, Nebraska. A family prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 A.M. in the fellowship room of the
church. A memorial has been established to Christ Community Church of Beatrice with the Fox Funeral Home in
charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 noon on Saturday until 9:00 P.M. Monday
and then on Tuesday at the church one hour preceding the services. A guestbook for signatures and messages of
