Mrs. Petra Hansen Thorsen, 71, wife of Thomas R. Thorsen, 17 Reynolds Ave., died last night at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Born in Norway on Oct. 24, 1885, she was the daughter of Tobias and Anna Hansen. Mrs. Thorsen had lived in Cortland 20 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Odin Lodge, Sons and Daughters of Norway, Buffalo.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Allen L. of Ithaca and John Thorsen of Cortland; three grandchildren; a brother, Herman Hansen of Syracuse; three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Simolin of Syracuse, Mrs. Anna Drago of Brooklyn, and Hannah Holsen in Norway; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Bush Funeral Home, where friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Frank W. Murtfeldt, interim pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
