Kevin Flynn, 46, of Lincoln Park died suddenly August 12 while bicycling near his family's vacation home in Harbor Country, Michigan. Kevin was born May 29, 1967, in Hinsdale to Donald F. and Beverly Flynn. He graduated from Marquette University where he was a member of the college team. In 1995 he married Susan Farley, and together they had four children, Donald Francis (16), Shannon Elizabeth (15), Brendan Edward (14) and Katherine 'Katie' Shea (12). Kevin is survived by his wife and children, his mother, a brother (Brian), six nieces, one nephew and many, many friends. Kevin learned the success of business working alongside his late father. He was Chairman and CEO of Emerald Ventures, Inc., a private investment and financial advisory company; and President of Flynn Enterprises, a venture capital, hedging and consulting firm. He also maintained business in the gaming industry and founded Blue Chip Casino in 1996. He was also a former investor and owner in the Sun Times Media Group and an active participant in the Young Presidents Organization. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and his 26 years of sobriety. Despite a demanding business schedule, he made time to support his children's activities at St. Clement School and St. Ignatius College Prep. In addition to his family and business interests, Kevin was passionate about golf. He was a member of Beverly Country Club, Bob O'Link Golf Club, The Dunes Club, Lost Dunes and the El Dorado Golf & Beach Club. He supported numerous charitable and civic causes including St. Clement Church, St. Ignatius College Prep, Leo High School, Lincoln Park Community Shelter, Chicago Children's Museum and the Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Program. Visitation will be Thursday, August 15 from 4 to 8PM at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clement on Friday at 10AM. Entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kevin's name to WGA/Evans Scholarships, New Care Center/Teen Recovery Scholarships and to Leo High School.
