Major League Baseball Player. He spent ten years in the major leagues as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants and Boston Braves. He appeared in 991 games during his major league career, making his major league debut on May 24, 1923. His best season occurred in 1928 as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies where he achieved career highs in hits, doubles, home runs and runs batted in. His final big league appearance occurred on September 20, 1932. He retired from the major leagues with 1,147 career hits, 72 home runs and a lifetime .307 batting average.
