Johann KRAUSE born 5 January 1861 at Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia was the son of Johann Michael KRAUSE and Anna "Justina" ROLOFF (1832-____).
Johann married Karoline EICHELBERG on the 27th of January 1883 at Alt Arzis, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. This union was blessed with 5 children; Sophia, Martin, Juliane, Friedrich and infant. Juliane, Friedrich and infant died before the age of three. Karoline KRAUSE died in 1894 probably at Tarutino.
Johann married Sophie BIECH on the 3rd of November 1894 at Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. The couple was blessed with 14 children; Caroline “Lena”, Lydia, Elizabeth “Lizzie”, Edward, Reinhold “Roy”, Amelia “Millie”, Albert, Juliana “Julia”, John, Michael, Elfrieda, Danida “Evelyn”, Theodore and Emil.
They began their immigration to America via the Port of Hamburg, Germany on the 18 May 1898 aboard the SS "Furst Bismarck" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 27 May 1898. The family included husband Johann, wife Sophie, and children; Sophia, Martin and Caroline. Their final destination was recorded as Kulm, North Dakota. However they settled North of Bismarck in Township 142, Oliver, North Dakota.
The KRAUSE family filed their Letter of Intent on the 5 April 1900 in Oliver County, North Dakota and were granted their "United States Certificate of Naturalization" on the 5 January 1906 in McLean County. On 20 April 1912, Johann KRAUSE received his "Canadian Certificate of Naturalization" in the Judicial District of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Johann homesteaded 160.36 acres within Sec 2, Twp 142N, Rge 87W, W5 in Oliver County. On the 24th of October 1906 he received LAND PATENTs for the same.
In 1909 the Johann KRAUSE family, consisting of Johann, Sophia, Caroline, Lydia, Elizabeth, Edward, Reinhold, Emilia Albert, Julianna, and John, moved to the Saint Boswells district of Rural Municipality #105 of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was there they homesteaded the NE¼ of Sec 19, Twp 11, Rge 7, W3 and the NW¼ of Sec 20, Twp 11, Rge 7, W3. Daughter Sophia and son Martin, stayed in North Dakota, but would later move to Canada. Sophia and Martin immigrated to Canada in 1910 by request of their father. Sophia at the time of the move was married to Sam Kraft and they had four children.
Johann KRAUSE at age 67, died on the 8th of November 1928 as a result of a car accident, in the Postal District of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan.
