Frank Philip Doebele, 87, Hanover, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Cambridge Place, Marysville.
The wake was to be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and a service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jim Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall will officiate. Doug Knauss will be lector. The congregation will sing "Amazing Grace," "The Prayer of St. Francis," "On Eagles Wings," "The Song of Farewell" and "God Bless America."
Gift bearers will be Kim, Paige, Riley and Macy Doebele.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Doebele, Andrew Doebele, Phillip Doebele, Nathan Donovan, Brandon Knauss, Loren Doebele, Bobby Knauss, and Dennis White Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allyssa Doebele, Christina Knauss, Ashley Doebele and Whitney Doebele.
Both services will be at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation was to be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hanover Mortuary. Contributions may be made to the Frank Doebele Memorial Fund in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
Frank Doebele was born March 24, 1919, at the Doebele farm house west and south of Hanover. He was the fifth child born to Philip and Nora Doebele. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Church.
He graduated from Hanover High School in 1936. He was a lifelong farmer and raised cattle with his three sons.
He married Geneva Seematter, Marysville, on Jan. 20, 1954. They had six children. He attended St. John's Church. He was a member of the Hanover American Legion, was commander of Post 306 for three years and awarded lifetime membership. He served in the Army during World War II from February 1941 till August 1945. He was part of the 362nd Amphibious Quartermaster Company stationed in Lae, New Guinea. He was then transferred to the 489th Amphibious Truck Company stationed in the Philippines and Australia.
His hobbies included playing cards and sports, and watching sporting events, particularly those of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva; his grandson Alexander Doebele-Donovan; his sisters Margaret Koppes and Nora Thiel; and his brother Urban Doebele.
Survivors include his three sons, Darrell, Rick and Gene Doebele, all of Hanover; three daughters Jacqueline Doebele and Barbara Donovan, Hanover, and Debbie Knauss, Katy, Texas; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Steve Doebele, Hanover; and sister, Jo Bray, Fayetville, Alaska.
