Evelyn Burns Vogt was born to Frank William and Frannie Hardy Burns on July 26, 1912, in Cuero, Dewitt County, Texas. She went to be with the LORD on August 2, 2016.
Evelyn lived in Cuero until she married the love of her life, Otto George Vogt, on August 5, 1932, and moved to Schulenburg, Texas, to begin their married life. In 1935, they moved to Longview, Texas. Their only son, John, was born May 8, 1939.
Evelyn and George remained in Longview until 1948 when they moved to Dallas to begin a new business venture. They were lifelong partners in every segment of their lives. George went to be with the Lord December 1975.
Evelyn lived in her “nest” for over 60 years. She was a faithful member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and was very active in the church until her eyesight gave way about 10 years ago.
Evelyn loved to play bridge and was known as quite the card shark. She loved to travel, both with her family and friends from church. Evelyn loved playing dominoes with her loyal friend Lupe Faz, who took amazing care of her for many years.
Affectionately known as “Marna” to her grandchildren, Evelyn had an infectious smile and laugh and was still on the floor playing with her great-grandchildren at 100. You never questioned what you meant to her as she always told you she loved you “more than all the tea in China”. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Evelyn is survived by her son, John, former Daughter-In-Law Virginia Vogt, granddaughter Lara Vogt Crump, her husband, Dennis, and their two children, Jackson and Caroline, of Southlake, Texas, and Granddaughter Lisa Vogt Hicks, her husband, Steven, and their two children, Kaitlyn and John, of Southlake, Texas. Also, Frank William Burns, of Cuero, and his Family.
Service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 12 PM in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
