John Bo, 80, of New Bedford passed away peacefully Thursday, October 27, 2016 at home after a brief illness, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the husband of 61 years, of Ingebjorg M. (Skaar) Bo.
Born in Karmoy, Norway, son of the late Ole and Ragna (Braatveit) Bo, he came here in 1960 and lived in Fairhaven prior to settling in New Bedford ten years ago. John was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the George H. Taber Masonic Lodge AF & AM, both in Fairhaven.
He was a commercial fisherman for many years working on various vessels out of Fairhaven and New Bedford and he had been a Merchant Marine in Norway prior to coming to this country. He loved his time spent with his family; his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They would like to give a ecial thanks to the staff ospf Community Nurse and Home Care for all of the wonderful care give during the past few weeks.
He is survived by his loving wife; three daughters, Tove Perry and her husband Barry of New Bedford, Jenny Mello of Fairhaven and Reidun Pease and her husband Jeffrey of LasVegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Kristine Souza and her husband Craig, Heidi Mello, Jonathan Perry and his wife Lindsay, Jason Perry and his companion Jillian Grace, Ashley Perry, Nicole Pease and Anna Kint; eight great grandchildren, Corey Goldrick, Victoria Perry, Craig Souza, Jr., Chelsey Goldrick, Jason Perry, Jr., Marcus Brown, Gracie Perry and Isaac Salas; many nieces and nephews, to include Trond Bo and Sven-Ole Sletten. Mr. Bo was the father of the late Ole-Jorgen Bo and brother of the late Ole-Magne Bo, Ingrid Sletten and Ruth Thorsen.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Pl., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Interment will follow in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours are omitted.
