Son of William Lewis MP and Margaret: Edward Lewis MP 1650-1674 of Vann and Boarstall (for his mother) and Thomas Lewis 1652 genealogy line of War Hero General Andrew Lewis of the American Revolution.

Margaret, daughter of Lawrence Banaster and his wife Mary, daughter of Sir John Dinham (Lawrence was son and heir of Sir Robert Banaster of Papenham in the county of Buckinghamshire), Margaret was the previous wife of Sir William Lewis Knight MP of Glamorgan in South Wales, married secondly on 31 March 1662 (as his second wife) Charles Stuart, 3rd Duke of Richmond and 6th Duke of Lennox.

She was buried on 6th January 1666/7 (now called 1667 due to the dating change in England). She was buried, as the Duchess of Richmond and Lennox, in the vault of this family in the Lady chapel of the Abbey, and her husband Charles was buried there on 20th September 1673.

So her surname at death was Stuart, not Lewis. By her first husband Sir William Lewis Knight MP she had a son called Edward. Charts attached.

She appears to have had no children by Charles Stuart.

The Richmond and Lennox family burial vault is below the floor. It is private and no one can enter it. There is no grave marker for Margaret (or other members of this family). Nor is there a monument for Margaret and her husband Charles.

The family estate Boarstall: Father: Lawrence Banaster, Mary had borne one child Margaret, (fn. 93) who held Boarstall with her husband William Lewis in 1651 (fn. 94) and as his widow in 1661.
