Statesman, Prime Minister of Iran. A member of Iran's Democrat party and then, Revival Party, he served as prime minister on three separate occasions. First, from 13 May 1945 to 6 June 1945, second, from 30 October 1945 to 28 January 1946 and lastly, from 29 December 1947 to 13 June 1948. Prior to serving as prime minister he attended Dar ol-Fonoon in Tehran and completed advanced studies in Medicine in Paris. He then served as royal physician to Mozzafar-al-Din Shah. He then became a member of the Parliament and served as cabinet ministers several times. He then became prime minister and later, speaker of the Senate of Iran. He is best remembered for refusing to grant the Soviet Union an oil concession in Northern Iran.
