DEATH OF MRS. BARTENBACH
Mrs. George Barbtenbach, for three years a patient sufferer of a disease which apparently seemed incurable, passed away at her home of West First street this morning at 9:15. Since last evening she has been unconscious and the end was expected at any time. Mrs. Bartenbach was first taken sick with "shingles", a kind of eruption which spreads halfway around the body like a girdle, and is attended with violent neuralgiev pains. Of late other complications have set in.
Mrs. Bartenbach, whose maiden name was Miss Charlotte Sievers, was born in Neumuenster, Holstein, Germany, March 1, 1840. In 1866 she came to this country and in the same year was united in marriage to Mr. George Bartenbach. For twelve years they resided in New York, and in 1878 came to Grand Island.
The family has been one of the foremost in this city ever since. The ties between a devoted mother and children could not have been closer than in this family and her demise has brought great grief in the household. Mr. Bartenbach is left, with two children, Henry J. and Mrs. O. A. Abbott, sr., to suffer the loss of the wife and mother. Two children preceded her in death. There are also two brothers still living, Theodore Sievers of this city and Peter Sievers of Washington. The grandchildren of the family are Miss Helen, George and Etta Bartenbach and Charlotte Abbott. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, 503 West First street.
