Ruth Klingner, age 99, died peacefully in her sleep on October 1, 2017 in Belmont, California.

She was born July 28, 1918 in San Francisco, California to George Biebesheimer and Julia Andrea (née Larsen) Biebesheimer. She attended elementary schools in San Francisco; Polytechnic High School in San Francisco; and the University of California at Berkeley, from which she was graduated in 1939 with a B.S. in Social Welfare. While at Berkeley, she was introduced to Evans Noyes Klingner, and they were married on May 3, 1941 in San Francisco. For the remainder of her life, she resided in the California cities of San Francisco, Belmont and San Mateo.

After working for the American Red Cross on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and for Lutheran Care for the Aging in San Francisco, Ruth returned to Berkeley, earning her Masters in Social Welfare in 1969. Her final employment was with the County of San Mateo, until her retirement in the early 1980's.

Ruth will be especially remembered for her service to clinical social work practice, her lifelong membership in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, her involvement in community activities, her love of travel, and for her loving service to her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Evans in 2015. Surviving her are two sons and a daughter, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers, George and Howard Biebesheimer.

A service of Christian burial will be held on November 18, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 2825 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo. Private inurnment will be at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo.
