Henry Ingram Sr was born to Alice (McClain) Ingram and Nate Ingram on December 5, 1921 in Devereux, GA.

He was reared by his grandparents, Henry and Georgeanne Macklin (McClain) in Devereux. In 1942, he left Devereux and set his sights on going up North to Akron to stay with his mother, Alice Bellamy, and stepfather, Dennis Bellamy. In March 1945, he met Alistine Wilson, who came from Milton, FL in 1944. By June 30, 1945, they were engaged and married. Henry Ingram Sr was known at Wooster Avenue Temple Church as "Deacon Ingram." He served at his post as deacon for many decades until his illness. At the church, he was also a Sunday School teacher and president of the Young People's Willing Workers for many years.

He was also active with the East Akron Community with the Fuller Street Block Club and Feeding the Hungry Program until the mid 1990's. He was faithful to his church, faithful to his family and faithful to his community. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1987. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 8, 2002.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife of over 56 years, Alistine Ingram; parents, Alice Bellamy and Nate Ingram; and grandparents, Henry and Georgeanne Macklin. He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers; seven children; 20 grandchildren; special daughter, Diane J. LeGree; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday at St. Ashworth's Temple, with Supt. Louis C. Walker officiating and Elder Richard Bradford eulogizing. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
