Marion Storck Ambuel (October 26, 1922 - April 12, 2018)Marion Storck Ambuel passed away in her home in Brookfield, Wisconsin on April 12, 2018 atthe age of 95. Marion was born on October 26, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to J. Alvin and Emma Storck. She received her BFA in Drawing, Painting, and Illustration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1943, and received her MA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and MA in Art History from the University of Chicago in 1945. After graduation, she taught Art at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.In 1946 Marion married Dr. John Philip Ambuel of Broadus, MT and a graduate of theUniversity of Chicago Medical School. Marion was a lifelong dedicated artist, working primarilyin oil, watercolor, charcoal, and pastels. She was active in the arts and the community even while busy raising a family. She exhibited in a variety of art shows throughout her life, and in 1959 executed a set of murals for a new wing of the Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She remained engaged in her artwork after caring for and losing her beloved husband to Parkinson's disease.Marion was the caring mother to Jack Robert Ambuel (Yuping) of Madison, WI, Bruce HowardAmbuel (Helen) of Brookfield, WI (predeceased), David Kent Ambuel (Patinya) of FallsChurch, VA; grandmother to Laura Flanagan (neé Ambuel), Brian Ambuel, David Ambuel,Patiphan Sritanyarath, and Philip Ambuel; and great grandmother to Liam, Jamie, and ReidFlanagan.Marion remained curious, spirited, open minded and open hearted to her final days.
