Robert A. Jarka, 83, died at 6:05 AM Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in St. Anthony Healthcare Center, following a ten-year illness. Born Jan. 9, 1915, in Lafayette, he had lived here all of his life. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and Jefferson High School. On May 24, 1939, in Lafayette, he was married to Mabel Louise Bybee, who survives.

Mr. Jarka was an environmental services worker at Lafayette Home Hospital, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and a 50-year member of Elks Lodge. He played for the American Legion Post 11 baseball team when it won the 1929 state championship.

Surviving with his wife are several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
