Estonian Statesman, Entrepreneur, Geographer. He served as the 32nd Mayor of Tallin, Estonia, from January 1990 to April 1992. He was born to Ülo Uluots and his wife Salme Alton Aasmäe in Rannamoisa, Martna vald, Läänemaa, Estonia, on February 11, 1951. He was educated locally and later attended the University of Tartu in Tartu, Estonia, and Leningrad State University (later Saint Petersburg State University) in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He was a longtime Member and President of the distinguished Club of Rome Section (Founded in 1968 at Accademia dei Lincei in Rome, Italy, the Club of Rome consists of one hundred full members selected from current and former heads of state and government, United Nation administrators, high-level politicians and government officials, diplomats, scientists, economists, and business leaders from around the world) from 1989 to 1991. He was also a producer of many radio shows and was a member of Tarkade klubi, an Estonian question-and-answer radio programme, for many years. Entering politics, he served as the People's Ambassador of the USSR from 1989 to 1991. A Member of the Estonian People's Front, he was also the first post-Soviet Mayor of the capital city of Tallin, Estonia, from January 1990 to April 1992. For his services to his country of Estonia, he was awarded the 3rd Class of the Order of the National Coat of Arms on February 23, 2006. He died at his home in Tallinn, Estonia, after accidentally falling down a flight of stairs on December 29, 2014, at the age of 63. He was buried in the Tallinna Metsakalmistu in Tallin, Estonia.
