Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist. A self-taught musician, Santos came to national fame in Nicaragua as a member of the musical trio Los Pinoleros with Julio Castillo and José Robleto. In 1952 he composed his most important work, “La Mora Limpia,” which has since been celebrated by many in Nicaragua as a second national anthem. His career was cut short when he was shot and killed by an intoxicated guard at Mercado San Miguel in Managua. Originally buried at Cementerio General, he was later moved to Cementerio Oriental.
