Champion Race Horse. He had a shaky start in his racing career in 1918. He was 0 for 6 as a two year old, and made his debut as a three year old in the 1919 Kentucky Derby to act as a "Rabbit" for his stablemate, a horse name Billy Kelly. To everyone's surprise he led the derby all the way to win by 5 lengths. He won the Preakness in similar fashion just four days later, then won the Belmont stakes, edging out two highly favored entrants. He also won the Wither's Stakes between his Preakness and Belmont Victories. After several years and numerous victories, Sir Barton had career winnings of nearly $117,000. He was retired to a ranch in Wyoming, where he lived out his years and died in 1937. He is buried in Douglas, Wyoming in Washington Park, where a statue is erected over his grave in his honor.
