Her husband, Louis Zorich, and her co-founded the Whole Theater Company and the company's first play debut in 1973. She made her television debut in 1962 on the series "The Doctors and the Nurses." Her television credits would later include "Dr. Kildare," "The Andros Targets," "One of the Boys," "Search for Tomorrow," "The Equalizer," "Tales of the City," "More Tales of the City," "Further Tales of the City," "Center of the Universe," and "Sex & Violence." In 1964, she made her "big screen" debut in the film "Twice a Man." Besides "Moonstruck," she went on to appear in such films as "Death Wish," (1974) "Working Girl," (1988) "Look Who's Talking," (1989) "Steel Magnolias," (1989) "Mr. Holland's Opus," (1995) "Away from Her," (2006) and "In the Land of Women." (2007) Besides the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in "Moonstruck" in 1988, she earned numerous other awards and honors during her lengthy acting career.
