Viola M. Mavity (nee Peters), a resident of Blue Island, died Tuesday, December 30, at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Viola was the last child born to Louis and Emma Peters on September 13, 1906 in Blue Island, IL. Viola's first husband Enger Anderson, died in 1955; her second husband, Warren Mavity, died in 1987. She retired from nursing from St. Francis Hospital and Pronger Smith Clinic; a former officer and member of the Blue Island Art Club; a member of Evangelical Community Church and its Women's Guild; the PTA; Beverly Art Forum; AARP; and Jolly Seniors.
Viola is survived by a daughter Nancy Anderson of Blue Island; a stepdaughter, Marion (Howard) Gillingham of Florida; a stepson, Raymond (Alice) Mavity of Florida; three grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Emma Peters; a sister Hazel Valach; and a brother Howard Peters.
A service will be Friday at 10a.m. at Krueger Funeral home with Rev. Robert Schroeder of Evangelical Community church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Worth.
