Malaysian Monarch, 23rd Sultan of Johor. He acceded to the throne on May 8, 1959 upon the death of his father, Major General Sir Ibrahim. In 1920, he married Ungku Aminah binti Ungku Ahmad, who was proclaimed Sultanah at Istana Besar, Johor Bahru on October 28, 1959. He remarried in November 1977 to Tengku Nora binti Tengku Panglima Raja Ahmad, who was later crowned as Sultanah in October of 1978. He was appointed as the first Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1977 and held the position until his death in 1981.
