according to coroner's report "was found dead on the shore of Woodbridge Island in the town of Stonington on April 20 - death due to exhaustion & exposure" - "His employer, Mr. Leander Wilcox gave him a Christian burial with a stone in Stonington Cemetery at his expense. Mr. Wilcox and his fellow employees attended his funeral of which there was a large gathering on April 22, 1892"
