NORFOLK, Va., August 19.--Mrs. Elizabeth Benson, an aged lady, and mother of Chief of Police. Benson, who committed suicide last January, cut her throat with a table knife this morning, and then jumped into a hogshead of water. When found she was dead and rigid. The cause was temporary insanity.
