Anna Belle was born to Barbara and George Breit in Jetmore, Kan., on September 13, 1920. At the age of four, she moved with her parents and siblings to a farm near Arnold, Kan., where she grew to womanhood. Anna Belle was educated in the Arnold Grade and High Schools, and upon her graduation attended the Venus Cosmetology School in Wichita, Kan. After becoming a licensed beautician, she opened her beauty salon in Utica, Kan.

In 1945, she purchased the Ness Hotel in Ness City, Kan., operating and managing the hotel until her marriage to Ray McCombs of Ness City on January 31, 1949. Ray preceded her in death in 1958.

On August 3, 1961, Anna Bell married Jack Tanner of Hutchinson, Kan., and resided there until 1966, when she and Jack moved to Springfield, Mo. She was employed by State Farm Insurance Company in the claims department and held this position until her retirement in 1986. Her husband, Jack passed away in 1987.

In 1988, she relocated to Albany and had resided here since that time. Anna Belle was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. She had been a very active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for the past 53 years, and the Women of the Moose. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Albany Humane Society, the Georgia Sheriff's Association, and the Wild Life Conservation Association.
