Elisabeth 'Lizzie Wetzel' Pitzner was born on Sep 11, 1851 in Lampertheim, Starkenburg, Hesse-Darmstadt. She was baptized in Lampertheim in the Lutheran Church shown to the right. Her father Jacob Wetzel b1820 was 30 and her mother Katherina Stephan Wetzel was 29. She married a fellow named Davis about 1871 in St Louis, Missouri. It is not known what became of that union. She then married Ernest Heinrich 'Henry' Pitzner on Jan 14th 1874 in St Louis, Missouri and they had five sons and two daughters together between the years 1873 and 1888. Apparently the family was living in La Crosse, Wisconsin as they were found on the 1900 census taken on June 3rd in that city. Ernest passed away just 3 days later on June 9, 1900 in La Crosse, Wisconsin at the relatively young age of 52. Lizzie passed away on May 29, 1905 in St Louis Missouri at the relatively young age of 53 herself. She is buried here with her husband Henry and two of her sons August & Emil. Her grandfather Georg Stephan lived out his life in Cincinatti, Ohio and she had numerous relatives over in Chillicothe, Ohio. Lizzie is this writers 1st Cousin 2X removed as Georg Stephan b1787 is our common ancestor.
