Mayme O'Neill loved to cook and loved to eat according to her daughter-in-law Grace Rogers Bowersock. She enjoyed having people around to cook for and although I never had the pleasure of knowing her, she sounds like she had a lot in common with my sister Diane who became a dietitian and my daughter Bridget.

June Anne Estes says she remembers Grandma as a large stern woman. June Ann shared this story that Mayme used to tell about Mayme and Oscar's oldest son Martin. Martin was about 15 years old, and got into an argument with his mother, Mayme. At the end of the argument Martin said " I'll eat my breakfast in Cincinnati tomorrow." Grandma said okay and Martin left the house, jumped a train to Cincinnati and sometime the next morning called home wanting Mayme to drive to Cincinnati and pick him up. Mayme refused saying he had found his way down there and he could find his way home, which is what Martin proceeded to do.
